I was solo in the studio this past Monday. The weather was beautiful, so my playlist reflected that...not necessarily "beautiful" songs, but songs that reminded me of warm weather and smiling and being on top of my game, or "making it." 2006 was an incredibly difficult year for me, and quite a few of the songs I played were those that were inspirational and kept me pushing through. Others were people in musical form and memories and whatnot...
1. Teenage Wristband - The Twilight Singers
2. La Rupture - Yann Tiersen
3. The Reasons - The Weakerthans
4. Can't Wait One Minute More- CIV
5. Keep Moving - First to Leave
6. Between You and Me - The Ataris
7. Parked in the Parking Lot of Your Heart - Polar Bear Club
8. Feeling What I'm Thinking Now - Digger
9. Celebrated Summer - Hüsker Dü
10. Absinthe Party At The Fly Honey Warehouse - Minus The Bear
11. Penelope - Pinback
12. Sleep Tonight - Stars
13. Coney Island - Death Cab for Cutie
14. Unlisted Track - Jawbreaker
15. Album of the Year - The Good Life

04/09/2007 recap et al.
okay. so last week we were bumped off the air again because Bob Woodward was speaking at Goucher. Whatever. But! We're back on the air tonight! The weather is sooooo nice, so, tonight's playlist will be in spirit of that, i suppose!
Anyway, our last broadcasted show was 04/09. Quinn co-hosted with me, and for good purpose! The show was supposed to be "thrash attack" oriented. I believe these songs were played:
1. Siren's Song- Fighting Dogs
2. Polar Bear Club- Silent Majority
3. Burned- Caustic Christ
4. Silence- From Ashes Rise
5. Pass the Torch- Flickerflame
6. Secession- Requiem
7. Duck Butter, Then- Ultra Dolphins
8. Some Natures Catch No Plagues- Saetia
9. Rotten Kid- Graf Orlock
Everything was fine until Quinn found a stack of LPs in the corner of the studio. Will Smith's "Freakin It" LP single being one of them. so we played the house mix, then went into Blondie's "Heart of Glass (Disco Version)" plus some other messes from terrible albums. There were a lot of technical difficulties in-studio because I had never used the dj system before, nor put caller's on air. but everything worked out fine. My friend Matt from the band Broadway Calls called in from Canada, where they were on tour for the past two and a half weeks. We closed out the show with "Sonny" by New Found Glory, in memory of Dana Flax, who was hit by a car and died the previous week. She was a close friend to many of my fellow classmates/friends, and it's difficult going through another unexpected loss in our freshman class. It's another kind of heartache.
Death and my own mortality have been on my mind a lot lately, and, ironically (i guess?), it's made me more stoked on life everyday. Carpe diem. Love it while you got it, because we'll never have time like this again.
TONIGHT 8-9 PM EST.

Amanda has officially become the "comic relief" of KSR, although she definitely tried use reverse psychology to discuss my summer plans on air. My roommate Gwen joined us as well! Twas a little tea party, it was! or should i say, milkshake party? after-parties will now be held in the gopher hole.
Our most significant discussion was on punk rock hygeine, and how i was disqualified from being punk because i regularly brush my teeth and take showers, and apparently smell nice enough at 8:30 in the morning for Amanda to sit next to me in English class. alas...
we've also determined that a significant portion of our fan base is made up of our parents. awesome.
Ian had to do Passover business so he could not be with us this evening, but hopefully he'll be able to come soon!
see you next week!
