good way to start my day.
Dear Goucher Radio staff and Communication department,
I wanted to let you all know some exciting news. George Capalbo of Backbone Networks (our software company) told me earlier this evening that Goucher Radio has been chosen by the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System as one of ten college radio stations that will be an official radio station on iTunes. George has told me that when we get back from spring break, our stream will not only be available on Quicktime through our website, but also through a live stream on iTunes. Millions of listeners stream live programs every day on iTunes, and George is expecting this to boost our listernship considerably. There will be more to come as I get more information, but I wanted to let all deejays and the communication department know, as this is a big moment for the station.
Goucher Radio sent 8 representatives this past weekend to New York City for the annual Intercollegiate Broadcasting System conference. We did three live remote broadcasts from New York City with our equipment, and they were a success. We did a lot of good networking, and I have already gotten e-mails from several Program Directors who have tuned into our station.
Oliver Janney, the founder of our station, was nice enough to come in last weekend to take a look at some of the technical issues we have been encountering. A new miniplug jack has been ordered, and we should have that when you get back from spring break. In addition, a new flasher for the phone is in the works. Both phone lines are working, so if you want to do conference calls, you can do that.
Finally, Goucher Radio's Spring Concert will be Thursday, March 27th in Buchner Hall (Alumni House) from 9-11 PM. Jesse Rifkin from Sarah Lawrence (www.myspace.com/jesserifkin) will be headlining the show, and Goucher Radio's own, Quinn Struke (www.myspace.com/quinnsmusic), will be opening up. The event is free and I look forward to seeing many of you there.
Have a great spring break and thanks for showing the same respect to Pete and Dan, as you showed to me during my three years as Program Director. Your dedication is what makes this station flourish.
Best,
Richard
no show this past monday for i had a show at charm city art space (see: dino flyer). Tomorrow I leave for spring break so we will not be broadcasting this coming week, but hopefully, HOPEFULLY upon the gopher's return to goucher on the 23rd, the show on the 24th will be of epic proportions. We will be on iTunes, after all.
